  • DMB Live Trax Vol. 19: Vivo Rio
    Item #: DMDD74
Dave Matthews Band performed at Vivo Rio in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on September 30, 2008 in front of many South American fans seeing the band live for the first time. The audience in Brazil was ecstatic which comes through in the recording and DMB really plays up to their exuberance. Highlights include Carlos Malta on the wood fife in Say Goodbye, his influence bringing a distinct flavor and Brazilian sound. Burning Down the House followed by an arresting Two Step are also noteworthy as is an emotional The Stone. The synergy between the band members is evident throughout the show. Other songs of the note on the Rio release are the show-opener, Bartender as well as Grey Street which makes its first official live release performed by the new formation of band members.

  • DMB Live Trax Vol. 15: Alpine Valley Music Theatre
    Item #: DMDD54
08.09.2008 Alpine Valley Music Theatre, East Troy, WI is a show whose setlist speaks entirely for itself. One of the most fan-requested shows for live release, the show features a superb progression of songs. Highlights of the show are numerous, from Dancing Nancies (played rarely as opener), Halloween>Water into Wine and Spoon, a definitive surprise of the evening, making its return after a 5-year hiatus. Stefan’s bass opening of Crush is memorable as is the fluid double encore of Don’t Drink The Water into Two Step. DMB played a couple of covers for the crowd’s pleasure, Pink Floyd’s Money and Talking Heads’ Burning Down the House.

  • Dave and Tim Live at Radio City
    Item #: DMDD31
In April 2007, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds embarked on a 3-city theatre tour, culminating with a performance in the intimate confines of Radio City Music Hall in New York City. • DMB Live Trax Vol. 18: GTE Virginia Beach Amphitheater
    Item #: DMDD70
    6.4.96 GTE VIRGINIA BEACH AMPHITHEATER

Dave Matthews Band performed their 14th show at the amphitheater in Virginia Beach on Tuesday night. With the show fresh in our minds, we are pleased to announce that we've selected the VA Beach show from 1996 for the 18th volume of the Live Trax series. This concert was the first show in the States after DMB's tour in Europe. Dave notes how the band is still taking in "this thing that's been going on with us", referring to the success achieved with the release of Crash. Highlights of the 96 show include Too Much, followed by never-before-released in the Live Trax series, "Deed Is Done" into So Much To Say. Carter's intro to #36 is also noteworthy. The VA Beach home state show has long been a summer tradition. We hope you enjoy this fresh release from the archives as much as we do.

  • DMB Live Trax Vol. 17: Shoreline Amphitheatre
    Item #: DMDD67
7.06.97, Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View, CA.
For the 17th release in the DMB Live Trax series, we chose the Shoreline show from 1997 which is also the first release from that year. This was the band’s third performance at Shoreline Amphitheatre, opened south of San Francisco in 1986 in cooperation with promoter Bill Graham who designed the venue space to resemble the Grateful Dead’s Steal Your Face image.

Highlights of the summer 97 Shoreline show include the debut release of Leave Me Praying (which later evolves into Don’t Drink the Water) and the cover of Daniel Lanois’ For The Beauty of Wynona featuring Los Lobos’ Steve Berlin on sax and David Hidalgo on electric guitar. Jimi Thing features remarkable horn play by LeRoi and Steve Berlin in a musical conversation with Carter’s drums. Hidalgo’s guitar solo in Lie In Our Graves is also worth mention, lending a special sweetness to the song.

    ABOUT THE SHOW:
The December 12th show is a perfect blend of Big Whiskey tracks performed for the first time acoustically; tried-and-true songs from Dave and Tim’s repertoire with a few surprises added to the mix. The show began with the jaunty Eh Hee followed by the crowd rousing Dancing Nancies. Perfect for the season, Christmas Song and Lying in the Hands of God are equally stirring. Grey Street and Tim’s rendition of Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir are also songs to take note of on the Live from Las Vegas setlist. • DMB The Bayou, Washington, DC 12/21/1992
    Item #: DMDD69
    12.21.92 The Bayou, Washington DC

We’ve dug deep into the archives to bring you the oldest and rawest show to date: 12.21.1992 The Bayou, Washington, DC. To our knowledge, there is no record of this show in the fan community or any seeded recordings.

DMB performed as the bar band at The Bayou during the holiday season in 1992 as evidenced by the sounds of the bar and holiday revelers on the recording. Peter Griesar was still with DMB during this time and his harmonica on So Much To Say kicks off the first set. Songs of note on the release include Pay For What You Get which quiets the crowded bar a bit, offering the other band members a chance to catch their breath and enjoy the soulful sounds of LeRoi’s sax. Two Step as the second set opener lights the crowd on fire again and the momentum continues with Help Myself which has an urgent energy to it likely due to Carter’s blazing hot drumming. The DC show ends with a little holiday nugget by Dave in the form of Christmas Song.

12.21.1992 The Bayou, Washington D.C. has been digitally mastered and is available in its entirety.

Dave Matthews Band’s highly anticipated first studio album in four years, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King.

    ABOUT THE ALBUM:
Produced by Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance), Big Whiskey has been hailed by Rolling Stone as the group’s “heaviest album yet, both musically and emotionally,” which went on to note: “Throughout, Carter Beauford beats out elaborate, propulsive groves; bassist Stefan Lessard lays down Flea-style funk bass lines; violinist Boyd Tinsley plays cresting, intense runs; and Matthews mirrors Moore’s saxophone lines with scatlike singing.” Billboard, in a cover story on Dave Matthews Band, praised Big Whiskey as “its best album yet….Highlights include the funk-rock rave-up Shake Me Like a Monkey, the stirring ballad Lying In The Hands Of God, the swampy rocker Alligator Pie (Cockadile), radio-friendly fare like Why I Am, which features playful horns over a solid rock riff and a hooky chorus, and Funny the Way It Is, which parlays a subtle intro into a soaring, syncopated anthem.”
