This review is for Live Trax 44 Blu-Ray Unfortunately it's no longer available, but it is worth buying if you can find it!! I own a sony UBP-x800m2 and full 5.2 audio setup. I bought 40 and 44 specifically for the Blu-Ray with 5.1 mixes, so audio is my primary focus. I haven't watched the full discs, but have skipped around here & there. Tech Specs: Video 1080i Audio 1: LPCM 2ch 96/24, 4.6 Mbps Audio 2: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1ch 96kHz, 7-9Mbps Runtime 3:08:28. 20 songs 5.1 and Stereo mix by Rob Evans Menus are good, like the popup menu - easy to switch between songs while watching. Zero extras. Great HD video quality, even though it is interlaced. Stereo overall very good mix, similar to the Live Trax I've heard on Spotify - above average 5.1 overall great mix, my preference. Some concert mixes put you "on-stage", like Eagles First Farewell Tour (by Eliot Scheiner). Other mixes are basically stereo, with some crowd in the surrounds between songs. This is a good hybrid - the surrounds are constantly in action, providing a great live experience, making you feel part of the crowd. You can pick up all the little crowd cheers & sings. The front LCR are studio-quality mixes of what's happening on stage - a great complement to the surrounds. Good L-R panning. Center channel well-used - lots of Dave's voice, kick, snare, bass. Strong surround speaker action - mostly ambient (crowd mics), throughout the whole show (it's not faded in & out). I have bass management so can't tell how LFE channel is used, but low end is great overall - in line with my expectations. My one wish would be for more vocal effects during certain sections of songs, like Rhyme & Reason around 1:33:00! You can hear in the surrounds how the FOH mix toggles between various effects, that really add something (and matches the studio recording). Honestly this is a wish I have for most of DMB's live recordings.
