It’s late July 1992 in Charlottesville, hot as hell outside all day. For those not on the downtown mall daily, you heard rumors around town of a new band playing at the old, beat up dive bar named Trax .. a mile up the road close to the train tracks. Cleverly named, but really a sh*t spot. Anyways, it’s a Tuesday … and everyone knows you don’t go out on a Tuesday. Except something draws you in. It’s not for the torn pool tables with broken cues, or the old beer bottles lined up filled with cigarette butts … and certainly not for the smells, or friendly banter with the employees and bartenders. It’s still hot as f**k outside, and never feels any cooler inside. It was like stepping into the 70’s for the night, Trax was legendary for that reason, not for its charm. Every $5 ticket guaranteed you could wiggle up to the front row without much a fight, it wasn’t that packed honestly. The PIT CREW is officially formed. But really, it’s more fun dancing in the middle or near the back. It’s still hot as hell in there and gets warmer by the minute. Trax is still a sh*thole. Except something still draws you in. “”That band” jammed again last week. No, nothing like Pearl Jam or Nirvana. You gotta just go” Those nights were legendary and tons of memories as an 18 yo ready to leave for college. Leaving a small town, tight crazy Italian family where we all worked together … DMB and their music kept a sense of home for me while away. One of the only things that gave me a sense of Charlottesville. Found this gem of an album in the dmb store. If you wanna hear what it was like that very night …. push play, and imagine being inside Trax with a few of your closest friends. Dave’s voice high in pitch and sounding amazing! Listen to the crowd after each song .. hardly paying attention .. you almost felt bad for Dave. Leroi wailing away, Boyd sweating his ass off, Stefan laid back chillin. At the end of warehouse, Dave actually asks for applause .. hilarity. It’s funny to think back to those very moments and how chill everyone was. Nobody thought about taking pictures, well bc nobody carried a camera. Living in the moment. After all, it was a Tuesday and everybody knows you don’t go out on a Tuesday … right?? Don’t burn the day, even if it’s Tuesday. Enjoy it crew!! Worth the download
