This special, uncirculated Dave Matthews solo acoustic performance was recorded in Spring, 1996 outside at the Sweet Briar College Dell, just before the release of the band’s sophomore album Crash. The show is intimate and carefree and Dave takes his time sharing stories regarding the place of inspiration for "Crash Into Me" (a dorm within viewing distance of the stage) and a recent trip to Africa. This rare performance features beautiful solo acoustic renditions of full-band songs with highlights including “#41," "Lie In Our Graves," "Seek Up” and “#36.”

If DMB is a full course meal at a 5star restaurant, Dave solo is like a special slice of cake after. 90's Dave was that amazing trip you had that you can't recreate no matter how hard you try. Since then the band has lost so much of what made it special. Now, without a violin....it's just not the same. Thank Goodness for these old recordings.

Such a great album! It’s very personal. You really get the feeling that you’re just hanging out with Dave, I find that the awkward chatter between songs is just as fun as hearing the songs in their stripped down form. You definitely want to get this one!

Love this show...agree with the other commenters that mention that they prefer Dave solo or Dave & Tim to DMB. I love DMB, especially early DMB, but I'm weird in that I'm not into the 15-20 minute jam sessions during songs like #41 or Two Step or Crush. I'd prefer they play more songs than play super long versions of fewer songs. New DMB without Boyd is different, but so far I am enjoying it!

I’m one of the weird fans that prefers Dave without the big band. Love Dave and Tim together and love this solo Dave album as well. The stripped down songs give more insight into Dave’s genius.

I loved the simplicity of just the guitar and listening to Dave live. I also am happy to have a CD set with so many songs. My only regret was that I wasn’t there!

I love the band and I love Tim Reynolds, but there's something special about Dave playing solo. I wish there were more solo Dave recordings available, especially from more recent years.

Picked this one because it was an acoustic version. So glad I did, I could listen to him play all night long. Don't get me wrong, I love the band too, but it's nice to hear just him sometimes :)

This CD is incredible! He is an incredible artist and entertainer. To think that the performance occurred 21 years ago is nuts.
